Right attitude needed at Sheff Wed if they are to stop losing run

Tommy Miller believes that Sheffield Wednesday need to ensure they are in the right frame of mind mentally if they are to get their challenge to gain promotion to the Championship this season back on track.

Wednesday had sat on top of the League One table after a bright start, but a run of three successive defeats has seen them slip four points behind current leaders Huddersfield.

Sheffield Wednesday are 4/1 to win League One and midfielder Miller feels that the correct attitude and approach on the pitch is going to be key if they are to achieve this feat.

He told the Sheffield Star: “This is a tough league. We’ve got to go places like Brentford and Plymouth and they want to beat us because we’re a big club in this division.

“We have to match them – at the moment we’re not doing that. We have to be mentally right.”

Manager Alan Irvine added after the recent 3-2 defeat at ten-man Plymouth that the team were “complacent” at the start of the second half when they had a man advantage and the score was 1-1.

Up next for Sheffield Wednesday is a battle against another of the early-season promotion favourites who have flattered to deceive in the form of Southampton.

The Saints have not scored in five games and new manager Nigel Adkins is still waiting for his first victory since taking over.

However, a win at Hillsborough could serve to kick-start their rise up the League One table and push for promotion.

Southampton are still only 6/1 to win League One despite being nine points behind Huddersfield and sitting in the relegation zone at present. See the whole League One winners market.
