Ramsey hopeful of November return after months on sideline

Arsenal and Wales fans will be glad to hear Aaron Ramsey is nearing a return, but Jack Wilshere will face new competition for his place in the first team.

Before Ramsey suffered that horrendous leg break against Stoke in February, he was being touted by football experts across the planet as the replacement for Cesc Fabregas.

It is yet to be known just how much damage that Ryan Shawcross tackle inflicted on the Welshman, but if Ramsey can capture the form that earned him a regular spot in the first team, Arsene Wenger will be left with two incredibly talented youngsters competing in the same position.

Jack Wilshere started the Premier League season strongly, but his inexperience has cost Arsenal in the matches that Fabregas has missed, suggesting Wilshere is still a little way short of the Arsenal standard.

In the four games Arsenal have played without Fabregas, they have beaten Partizan Belgrade in the Champions League, been knocked out of the Carling Cup and lost both Premier League games against West Brom and Chelsea.

Fabregas is hopeful of a return to the Arsenal first team this weekend when they host Birmingham, and Wilshere will start alongside Fabregas as Arsenal look for the three points – they are 1/3 to beat West Brom.

Aaron Ramsey’s return is sure to heap the pressure on Wilshere to perform, and it may be that over the next month or so, Wilshere will be able to prove that he has the maturity to hold down a spot in the Arsenal midfield.

Either way, Wenger continues to have a wealth of young talent available to him as Arsenal look to end their three year wait for a trophy – they are 11/1 to win the Premier League.
