Clough fancies Luke Moore to fire Derby to new heights

Derby County may have lost 2-1 against Burnley at the weekend, but Nigel Clough has found a silver lining in the shape of Luke Moore.

The striker scored his second goal in two games and looked to have won the game for the Rams until the late capitulation that saw them concede two goals in the last ten minutes against Brian Laws’ side.

However, despite his good form in front of goal, Clough is looking for more from the striker who has had his loan deal extended until the end of the year.

Speaking to the Derby Telegraph, he said: “I think he can improve on the performance against Burnley. He can work a little bit harder and he was offside too many times.

“We did not get the ball to him enough. When we did get it to him, we saw that bit of quality again.

“But he has scored two goals in his last two matches, so it is nice to have a striker scoring goals.”

Derby haven’t lost any ground on the teams immediately above them in the play-off places after their Burnley defeat, with both Cardiff and Swansea losing. However, QPR are now eight points in front of Clough’s men at the top of the table, thanks to their 2-1 victory over the Bluebirds.

Derby now face Norwich in their next game and could certainly be worth a bet to upset Paul Lambert’s men. The Canaries are fresh off the back of their 4-1 derby day win over Ipswich Town, but must travel to Derby, where the Rams have won their last six games, scoring 20 goals in the process.
