Brighton likely to struggle to bring end to winless sequence

Published:

Brighton’s failure to win in their last three League One games has seen their lead at the top cut to four points and there is a strong possibility that the chasing pack will make up more ground as they face a difficult away game with Huddersfield next.

Gus Poyet’s team may have regained some confidence from their FA Cup replay win away to FC United and Brighton’s betting odds are 21/10 to win at Huddersfield.

The hosts have scored ten goals in their last two home games in all competitions and are 5/4 to pile more league misery on Brighton.

Jordan Rhodes, Antony Kay and Gary Roberts have all scored in both of these victories, but Rhodes may represent the best betting opportunity to open the scoring against Brighton, which can be backed at 5/1.

If Brighton do slip up, Oldham and Colchester will be two of the teams looking to take full advantage.

Oldham are still to lose at home in League One this season and they put this record on the line as they entertain Swindon.

Swindon may be unbeaten in their last seven meetings with Oldham, but they have won just one of their nine away games this season.

The League One betting odds market has Swindon at 11/5 to grab a rare victory, but Oldham are worthy favourites at 6/5.

Colchester and Yeovil have been in League One together for the past three seasons and the hosts have won five of these six meetings, including all three at home.

Therefore, the 4/6 offered that Colchester beat Yeovil may be worth taking, particularly as they have the added incentive that a victory could see them climb into the play-off places.

A £10 bet on the treble of Huddersfield, Oldham and Colchester all claiming home wins could lead to a return of £82.50. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
