The Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship is here!

The Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship is just hours away and everything is shaping up for a fantastic tournament.

Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor is heavy 4/6 favourite heading into darts’ showpiece event and he gets his campaign under way this evening against the winner of Gary Mawson and Juanito Gionson.

Mawson is expected to come out on top against the Filipino at 4/11. However, whoever progresses, neither player should pose any threat to the 15-times world champion.

The tournament kicks-off at 7.10pm this evening with Paul Nicholson facing Steve Farmer, with the former 1/4 favourite to sweep into the second round. But the competition really hots up when Taylor takes to the oche.

Despite losing a bit of form over the past couple of months – including a defeat against Steve Beaton at the Grand Slam of Darts and a first round exit at the World Cup of Darts – Taylor is convinced he still has what it takes to claim a 16th title.

He said: “Losing a few games can do you good sometimes. It’s the little kick you need to try something different, to move on. I love it.

“At the moment I’m looking to win a 16th world title. If I get there, then a 17th, just as many as I can. I’m enjoying it.

“There’s an old saying – ‘If you can find a job you love, you’ll never work again’. That’s what I’ve done basically.”

Taylor is on last tonight and is scheduled to play at 10.55pm – a fitting way for the biggest event in darts to really get going.

A £10 winning bet on £28 Paul Nicholson beating Steve Farmer pays out £28. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
