Forest confirm their place as title contenders with win over Robins

Nottingham Forest have been cut into 9/1 to win the Championship following their 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers last night.

The win leaves them six points adrift of leaders Queens Park Rangers, but just one point behind the automatic promotion spot as things continue to tighten at the top of the Championship table.

QPR are still the dominant force in the Championship winners betting market and are odds-on 5/6 to win the title after sustaining their early season dominance.

But Cardiff City, Norwich and Swansea City are all level on 47 points and are separated by just three goals, but Cardiff remain solid second favourites at 9/2 to win the Championship, with Norwich 9/1 and Swansea 12/1 in the league winner betting.

Nottingham Forest are in the ascendency following a run of five straight wins and as a result, are shorter than Swansea in the betting.

Forest face both QPR and Cardiff over the course of their next five league games, and two wins against the top two in the table would put Billy Davies’ side in a strong position to make a challenge for the title towards the business end of the season.

Up next for Davies’s side is an FA Cup tie with Premier League West Ham United at Upton Park and Forest are 11/4 to dump out the Premier League’s bottom club.

West Ham are 1/1 to beat Forest on Sunday, but all of West Ham’s efforts will be put into securing a Carling Cup final spot when they play Birmingham City on Wednesday night and Forest have a huge chance to cause an upset.

A £25 stake on Forest winning the Championship would return £250. New customers can sign up here for a free bet worth £25.
