More pressure on Wolves as fellow relegation contenders win

Published:

With only seven points separating the whole of the bottom half of the Premier League, a single victory could see a club take great strides up the standings and this has proven the case for Fulham and Birmingham.

Fulham’s betting odds to be relegated this season have lengthened to 11/4 on the back of their useful 3-0 win at home to West Brom.

Meanwhile, Birmingham also climbed out of the bottom three as a result of their last-gasp 2-1 victory at Blackpool and they are now 3/1 to finish in the bottom three this season.

Their victories could prove even more valuable as West Brom and Blackpool are both among the other chief contenders to go down, with the defeats seeing their betting odds to be relegated go in the other direction.

Blackpool are now 11/4 in the Premier League betting odds to make an immediate return to the Championship, while West Brom are 3/1.

These results have put more pressure on current bottom club Wolves to secure a result against Chelsea if they do not want to lose touch with the teams above them.

They are already two points adrift of Wigan in 19th spot and Ladbrokes offer the best price on Wolves being relegated this season, at 4/7.

Wolves are 6/1 to beat a Chelsea team that have not won in five Premier League away games and that have lost on three of these occasions.

A draw which may be seen as a positive result can be backed at 3/1.

However, Chelsea have won all five of their Premier League meetings with Wolves and have triumphed by at least two goals in each of these fixtures.

Chelsea’s betting odds are 1/2 to beat Wolves and a repeat of their 2-0 success at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season is available at 6/1.

A £10 bet on Aston Villa being relegated could lead to a return of £50. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
