Robson to lead Posh to victory over Brentford at 11/10

Some stability is needed at Peterborough after Gary Johnson’s departure left the club searching for a fifth manager in 15 months, but there is some pressure on caretaker boss Mark Robson to ensure that a positive frame of mind remains in the dressing room.

Robson will be in charge of Peterborough’s important home game with Brentford, where they are a decent betting prospect at 11/10 in the League One odds to secure the victory that will take them back into the play-off places.

Johnson was in the middle of a four-game unbeaten league run as Peterborough boss, with his decesion to leave by mutual consent thought to be because of club policy disagreements rather than because of the team’s form.

Robson will be keen to continue this run and despite the fact that striker Aaron Mclean recently moved to Hull and influential midfielder George Boyd is injured, he should be confident that the club has enough creativity to beat Brentford.

Goals have not proved a problem for Peterborough this season in League One, particularly at London Road where they have scored 30 times in 11 games.

They also romped to a 7-0 home victory against Brentford last season, where Craig Mackail-Smith found the target.

Mackail-Smith already has 11 league goals this season and three in Peterborough’s last two home games, which makes him a strong betting contender to open the scoring against Brentford at 7/2.

A victory would boost Robson’s chances of landing the managerial role on a full time basis, although there have also been links to a possible return for former boss Darren Ferguson, who was recently dismissed by Preston.

A £10 bet on the scorecast of Mackail-Smith scoring first and Peterborough winning 4-0 could see a return of £1000. New Ladbrokes customers can sign up here for a free £10 bet.
