Classy Brighton look unstoppable in League One race

While QPR are dominating the Championship, Brighton have a similarly vice-like grip on the top of League One.

The Seagulls are now massive favourites for the title at 1/4 and continue to justify their status with impressive performances.

Brighton have lost just two of their previous 14 League One games and have now won their last four on the bounce thanks to their 2-0 win over Tranmere, with Chris Wood and Glenn Murray finding the net.

And it’s Brighton’s strength in depth that their boss, Gus Poyet, feels could be the difference with just 12 games of the season remaining.

He said: “I’ve said in the past, it will get more and more difficult. You cannot relax and you have to be very good to open up a defence like Tranmere today. It took a while to get going but I thought it was coming sooner or later.

“When these games come along you need someone to come up with something special to impose your quality. Glenn Murray did that. It was a terrific action, putting the ball where the keeper could not reach it.

“Credit to the players. When it’s not easy and complicated like today, you need to bring something different. We are doing it and it’s fantastic.”

Brighton may be eight points clear of Huddersfield in second place, but things could get even better for the south coast side. Brighton have two games in hand on the Terriers and with Poyet’s team in such great form, they look set to extend their advantage.

They may not be the longest odds you’ll ever get, but the 1/4 offered for Brighton to win the league looks like a very tidy bet.

Southampton are 4/1 to win the League One title. A £25 bet on that would provide a £100 profit. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
