West Brom vs Chelsea – Torres has to be benched if Chelsea want a win
Roy Hodgson’s unbeaten West Bromwich Albion team host Chelsea in the Premier League in a game which could go a long way to deciding whether the Baggies play Premier League or Championship football next season.
Chelsea’s demoralising exit from Europe in midweek leaves them vulnerable against the in-form Baggies, and West Brom can upset the Premier League odds on Saturday.
Like Liverpool, Chelsea enter the game with West Brom having never lost to them in the Premier League conceding just two goals in the process.
Liverpool were turned over at Anfield and the home advantage makes West Brom a huge price at 4/1 to continue their unbeaten run and pull further away from the relegation zone.
West Brom are unbeaten in their last six games at the Hawthorns and with Carlo Ancelotti struggling to find his best team, the 8/11 for a Chelsea win seems too short.
Chelsea can boast three players that have incredible scoring records against West Brom but the arrival of Fernando Torres means two of them may not play.
Frank Lampard (five goals in eight), Didier Drogba (seven in six) and Nicolas Anelka (four in six) would make a frightening attack for Chelsea and if Torres doesn’t start, it may be time to reassess a West Brom win.
Drogba, Anelka and Lampard are 4/1, 5/1 and 6/1 to score any time against West Brom and with 26 goals in 9 Premier League games against West Brom, Chelsea are more than likely to score.
But West Brom’s turnaround under Roy Hodgson has to be respected and should Torres start on the bench a draw may be the more likely outcome at 5/2.
