Fabregas odds-on to be an Arsenal player come September

With Barcelona and Arsenal no nearer to agreeing a fee for Cesc Fabregas, the bookmakers have priced the Arsenal skipper at 5/6 to be at Arsenal in September.

The pre-season period revolves around rumour and gossip but very rarely do the odds back up the news.

The ongoing saga between Barcelona and Arsenal for the services of Fabregas has been well documented, and if the press is to be believed, Fabregas has his heart set on a move to Spain.

But with Arsenal not willing to lose their captain for anything less than £40m, Fabregas’ dream move looks like stalling once again following a failed bid from Barcelona last summer.

To put Fabregas’ odds in perspective, Samir Nasri is 1/2 to leave Arsenal before September 1st as the bookmakers believe the Frenchman is on his way out.

Arsene Wenger’s signing of Lille forward Gervinho has gone some way to assuring the fans he will be active over the next few weeks ahead of the new season, and the news Fabregas is odds-on to stay will bring a bit more cheer to the Gunners.

However it’s 1/3 that Arsenal don’t win a major trophy next season and even if Fabregas stays, the bookmakers don’t believe Arsenal are a threat next season.

It’s 11/10 that Arsenal finish fifth or lower in the Premier League next season and their place in the top four is certainly under threat with Liverpool strengthening their squad with a number of arrivals.

The Arsenal fans are getting impatient with their manager and next season could spell the end of Wenger’s career should the bookmakers be proven right.
