Malaga should be favourites to sign £50m Tevez from Man City
Published:Manchester City are determined to play hardball over Carlos Tevez and the fact that they will not negotiate on their £50m valuation could mean that Malaga are overpriced at 8/1 to seal his signature.
Although Tevez clearly wants to leave, he does still have three years remaining on his contract at Eastlands and Manchester City are determined to prevent the Argentine from dictating his own departure.
Manchester City are still to receive any concrete bids for Tevez, but have been clear in their efforts that he will not be leaving on the cheap and any offers under their asking price will be rejected.
Tevez has put himself in a slightly awkward position as the large majority of clubs will not be able to afford both a £50m transfer fee and wages of £200,000 a week.
Meanwhile, the fact that he has found numerous things to moan about at Manchester City may not enhance his appeal among other clubs, particularly as some of these complaints have been about the manager and fellow squad players.
Real Madrid are the favourites in the football odds at 11/8 to have signed Tevez by September 1st, but with Neymar their chief transfer target, it is unlikely that even they can afford both.
It is 5/1 that Tevez is a Barcelona player by September 1st, but their financial problems are well documented and they are currently having difficulty funding a smaller transfer for Cesc Fabregas.
Inter Milan are 12/1 to sign Tevez, but they have already suggested that they would not be able to afford Tevez.
Therefore, this leaves Malaga and Boca Juniors as the two most likely clubs to have Tevez in their squads by September 1st and both are 8/1.
Malaga are perhaps the only club who could actually afford Tevez thanks to their owners and he could form an interesting strike partnership with Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
But if Tevez truly wants to go back to South America to be near his family then there is a small chance he could be loaned to Boca towards the end of the transfer window in the same way that Robinho was to Santos previously.
