Liverpool and Tottenham to battle it out for Hugo Rodallega

Liverpool’s huge summer of spending looks set to continue with Wigan’s Hugo Rodallega the latest player linked with a move to Anfield.

However, Kenny Dalglish will face still competition from Tottenham Hotspur, whose summer transfer activity as been almost non-existent.

According to the Daily Mirror, both Spurs and Liverpool are keen to add the striker to their ranks before the transfer window closes, with Dalglish looking to add back up for Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is desperate to keep hold of the player who he feels is crucial to Wigan’s hopes of Premier League survival, but admits he will find it hard to keep the Columbian if either side makes a bid.

He said: “He is a very important part of our plans.

“If he does well enough, it’s only fair that we do not stand in his way if the chance of a big move comes along.”

Wigan are apparently prepared to offer the player an improved contract and a buy-out clause in order to keep him at the DW Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Sunday Telegraph are reporting that Redknapp is ready offload a host of first-team players to make space for transfer target Emmanuel Adebayor.

Peter Crouch, Wilson Palacios and Jermaine Jenas are amongst the players thought to be heading out of White Hart Lane.

Spurs certainly need reinforcements if they are to force their way back into the Champions League having had a frustrating summer in the transfer market and Adebayor would certainly fit the bill.

The North London side are currently 11/4 sixth favourites to finish in the top four.
