Anderson the man in PDC World Championship odds

Sport can often become a little boring when the same player or team keeps constantly winning and so it is slightly refreshing that the winner of the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship is not as predictable as days gone by.

Phil Taylor has been crowned world champion 15 times and has lost in the PDC World Championship odds on only four occasions since 1994.

This level of dominance will almost certainly have meant that he would have been a heavily fancied odds-on favourite ahead of virtually all of these tournaments.

However, with Taylor beginning to lose his mojo and other players stepping up their game to match ‘The Power’, the shift to a new star in the sport is about to take place.

Many will believe that Adrian Lewis is the man to take over Taylor’s mantle after his victory in the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship last year, but it is the man he beat in the final at Alexandre Palace that is to be most feared.

Gary Anderson has arguably been the form player of 2011, losing another big final after his defeat to Lewis when he was beaten 13-12 by Taylor in the Players Championship Finals.

But his moment in the spotlight duly arrived in the Premier League Darts, winning his first four matches to qualify from the group stages, beating Raymond van Barneveld in the semi finals and then getting a measure of revenge on Lewis when taking the final 10-4.

Anderson has since kept his eye in with some victories in minor Players Championship events and looks a great price at 11/2 in the PDC World Championship odds to win the Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship.

Unsurprisingly it is Taylor that heads the market at 6/4 while the other leading contender Lewis is 8/1 to successfully defend his title.
