Chelsea vs Wolves: Blues can finally lift gloom for Villas-Boas

Published:

The last meeting between these teams saw Wolverhampton Wanderers record a shock 1-0 victory at Molineux last January.

That defeat came in the middle of a dreadful run for the Blues that saw their Premier League ambitions come crashing down around their ears.

It may be a new season and they may have a new manager, but the warning signs are once again blaring loud and clear for Chelsea as they head into this game on the back of three defeats in four Premier League games.

That should be where the similarities end though…

Match odds

Despite their recent poor form, Chelsea head into this game as big favourites at 1/5 and it’s hard to see beyond a win for Andre Villas-Boas’ under-fire players.

The Blues have won all three of their home Premier League meetings with Wolves in convincing fashion and by at least a two goal margin.

With Mick McCarthy’s men losing their last four on the road and all of their Premier League away games against teams who have finished in the top three since their return to the top tier in 2009, Wolves shouldn’t pose a threat.

If you fancy an upset though, the visitors can be backed at a massive 12/1 to pick up all three points.

Goal markets

In the three Premier League meetings between these sides at Stamford Bridge, the Blues have hit the net on 11 occasions.

Villas-Boas’ men also have a pretty dismal home defensive record this season and have yet to keep a clean sheet in the league.

Backing both teams to score at 10/11 and over 2.5 goals at 5/6 looks a great way of cashing in.
