Bolton may do best to bid for forgotten former Arsenal creator

Bolton have enjoyed great success in each of the last two Premier League seasons in terms of securing players on loan in January that have had a major impact in the latter part of their campaign.

Jack Wilshere started the trend two seasons ago and then Daniel Sturridge scored eight times in the last campaign to keep them clear of the relegation places.

Another season battling the drop is on the cards this time around, with the club only one place and one point outside of the bottom three.

But with David N’Gog showing signs of stepping up to score goals, it may be in the wide areas where Bolton could most do with some new blood.

Alexander Hleb’s career has gone majorly downhill since departing Arsenal for Barcelona in 2008, with a recent loan spell at Wolfsburg the latest disappointment.

Hleb was meant to be in the Bundesliga for the duration of the season, but was returned to Barcelona early after struggling for form and fitness.

Barcelona will be desperate to send Hleb out on loan again to get some of his wages off their books and there is a strong possibility that his contract will be terminated for good in the summer.

So Hleb is virtually playing for his future and will therefore surely give his all in order to prolong his career.

At his best, Hleb has the talent to perform at the highest level and if Owen Coyle could tap into this talent, he could be a big hit at the Reebok Stadium.

With money tight despite the sale of Gary Cahill to Chelsea, Coyle may have to rely on loan recruits in the January transfer window if Bolton are to avoid the drop this season.

It is currently 8/11 in the Premier League odds that Bolton finish the season in the bottom three.
