Chelsea in hunt for Man Utd contract rebel Paul Pogba

Andre Villas-Boas’ overhaul of his Chelsea side looks set to continue apace over the coming months – and Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is the latest player to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Blues reckon they can bag the young Frenchman from under the nose of Inter Milan who are also interested in snapping up the midfielder.

Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently livid with the youngster’s advisers after he turned down a new contract.

With Pogba failing to get any game time – despite a host of injuries in the United midfield – it looks as though his time at Old Trafford will be coming to an end sooner rather than later.

His current deal ends in the summer and the Daily Mirror reckon United could be tempted to cash in on the player now – for as little as £3million.

Even if the Blues do bag Pogba this January then it’s hard to see him making too much of an impact this season and they remain out at a massive 80/1 to win the Premier League.

Meanwhile, talkSPORT are also reporting Chelsea remain very much in the hunt for Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel.

The Blues looked set to miss out on the 23-year-old with Valencia thought to be strong favourites to bag him.

However, with Jose Bosingwa potentially on his way to big-spending Paris Saint-Germain, the west London side will certainly need reinforcements – especially if they are to keep progressing in the Champions League.

They are currently fourth favourites at 14/1 to win Europe’s premier event.
