Everton v Blackburn: Toffees to stick it to inconsistent Rovers

Published:

Notorious for post-Christmas improvement, Everton are hoping to kick-start their season as soon as possible heading into late January.

David Moyes’ side’s indifferent form means they are longer at 4/7 than they perhaps usually would be at home to 17th-placed Blackburn.

The visitors are 6/1 to leave Goodison Park with all three points after last weekend’s 3-1 home win over Fulham, but the Ewood Park club have as of yet failed to record back-to-back victories this season.

Everton’s post-festive gradual upturn has included two draws and the stalemate can be backed at 5/2 here, and as each of the draws were 1-1 results, some punters may take interest in the 11/2 on offer for that scoreline.

Looking at the scoreline betting with regards to a home win could be profitable and a 3-1 Toffees victory looks overpriced at 9/1.

But as Blackburn may struggle to find the net in the absence of top scorer Yakubu, who was sent off last weekend, the slightly bigger 10/1 for a 3-0 home win could prove generous.

Landon Donovan has yet to score since his return to Goodison Park, and he will be desperate to change that at a club he professes to have deep affections for.

The American forward is 7/1 to score the first goal here, while powerful teammate Victor Anichebe, who has scored last in two of Everton’s past four league games, is 11/2 to achieve the same feat here.

The home side have become renowned for starting slowly this season, and would sit rock bottom of the Premier League if you were to take into account only their results by half-time.

Having been drawing a large majority of games by the break this campaign, but looking set to hit some good form imminently, the 7/2 for a draw at half-time and Everton win at full-time looks a terrific bet.
