Arsenal v Aston Villa: Gunners to extend superb league run

Published:

Arsenal extended their Premier League winning streak to five games by defeating Everton on Wednesday night, and they can further build on this record by beating Aston Villa at 4/11 on Saturday.

Villa will be making their second visit of the season to the Emirates, after they were narrowly defeated 3-2 in a January FA Cup tie, and they can be backed at 8/1 to claim victory this time round.

It is 7/2 about the draw, and as Villa have participated in league 12 stalemates this season, more than any other club, some punters could be tempted to take advantage of those odds.

The Gunners have triumphed in four of the past six encounters between the teams however, and their recent form makes it look an appealing proposition to get behind them in this weekend’s clash.

Arsene Wenger’s men have also scored three goals in three of the past six matches against Villa, and so the 10/11 odds for Arsenal to win with three or more goals occurring in the match look superb value.

Also, Arsenal have scored at least four goals on three of their past four outings at the Emirates, and so it could pay dividends to invest in the generous 7/2 odds for them to score four or more goals in Saturday’s match.

Villa will take confidence in the fact that they have found the net in their past four meetings with Arsenal, including two goal hauls on their last two visits to London, and so many may be inclined to take note of the 5/6 odds for both teams to score in the match.

Robin Van Persie is an obvious selection to score first and add to his 33 strikes for the campaign already, and looks a good bet even at a short 2/1.

Meanwhile, the exciting Alex Oxlade-Chemberlain is a 7/1 shot for the opener and could give punters a good run for their money.
