Rangers v Celtic: Gers poised for more misery at Ibrox

Published:

Celtic may have already as good as won the Scottish Premier League title by virtue of Rangers getting docked ten points for their financial problems, but that doesn’t mean this will mean any less to both sets of players and supporters.

There is never any love lost between these bitter rivals and, with the Gers determined to show they are still a force in Scottish football, this promises to be a hard-fought encounter.

Whether or not it will be a close encounter is another matter…

Match odds

Celtic are the 1/1 favourites for this clash and, based on their form in the league this season, it’s easy to see why.

They haven’t lost a game since October and went on a run of 17 straight wins – a run that included a victory over Rangers – to catapult them to the top of the SPL.

However, they drew their last league game 1-1 with Aberdeen and lost their League Cup final against Kilmarnock last weekend.

With Rangers losing their last two games though, it’s hard to see an upset but, if you can, then Rangers can be backed at 11/4 to get the win or at 12/5 to get the draw.

Goal markets

The last meeting between these sides saw Celtic come out on top in a 1-0 win and the same score this time can be backed at 8/1, while a reverse of that score is 12/1.

There has only been one goalless draw in the last 14 meetings between these sides and, with Rangers failing to keep a clean sheet in their last six games, backing over 2.5 goals looks tempting at 10/11.

Finally, Gary Hooper is the SPL’s leading scorer and is 9/2 to open the scoring this weekend, having scored against the Hoops earlier in the season.
