Both to score as West Ham meet Blackpool in Wembley final

In a tough to call Championship playoff final at Wembley, West Ham and Blackpool sides who have scored 160 goals between them this season both look good to strike at 8/11.

Only second-placed Southampton scored more goals than Sam Allardyce’s Hammers this season, whilst Blackpool, in turn, were the division’s third top scorers.

It should be noted too that both sides conceded more than a goal per game on average, and each of these statistics makes 8/11 odds about both teams scoring on Saturday stand out.

Each managed to keep a clean sheet in at least one of their playoff semi-final legs, but have scored significantly more than their counterparts in those games across the course of the season.

The fact that West Ham fired four past Blackpool on both occasions the sides met in the league will give them confidence too, and it is extremely difficult not to see the Hammers scoring at Wembley.

A match where both teams have scored has resulted in half of these sides’ meetings of the past 30 years, though they have only competed four times during this timespan.

What will also encourage punters to take on 8/11 odds on both teams notching, is the recent goalscoring form of either side, both in the regular season and the playoffs.

You would have to go back five games to find the last time Blackpool drew a blank, whilst the Hammers have gone an impressive 16 games breaching their opponent’s backline without fail.

The highly entertaining playoff final Ian Holloway’s men were involved in two years ago may also be an indication of what is to come this weekend meanwhile.

The Seasiders triumphed 3-2 against Cardiff in 2010, and both teams look set to score for the third season running in a Championship playoff final on Saturday.
