West Brom v Reading: First league win of this in store for Reading

Published:

Reading travel to West Brom still in search of their first win since regaining their Premier League status and their long-odds price is worth taking note of here.

The Royals are 16/5 shots to pick up their first win of the campaign at the Hawthorns and, having lost just one of their last 10 games against the Baggies, they have every reason to be optimistic ahead of this one.

They showed spirit despite going down to a 3-1 defeat at home to Spurs last time out and more performances of that ilk will ensure their first win of the season is not far away.

Steve Clarke’s men have been imperious at home where they have won two, scored five and conceded none, but their performance at Fulham showed several weaknesses which Reading will look to capitalise on.

Pavel Pogrebnyak has scored Reading’s first goal in two of their four games to date and the Russian international is a 7/1 shot to break the deadlock in this one.

A Reading win/draw with two or fewer goals scored in the game is available at 11/5 and, if Reading are to pick up their first victory of the campaign, a tight contest appears in order.

This makes the 4/5 available for there to be under 2.5 goals netted a very generous prospect, as is the 7/2 on offer for Brian McDermott’s men to score the first goal of the game in the 28th minute or after.

Three of West Brom’s five games in all competitions have ended with only one side finding the net which, given the outlook for this one, seems a sound bet and the 1/1 Ladbrokes have priced it up at is very attractive.
