Preston v MK Dons: Draw good value for televised clash

Published:

Preston North End welcome MK Dons and the Sky Sports cameras to Deepdale on a weekend largely bereft of club football.

PNE fans will be hoping their eighth place side can put on a show against the Dons to leapfrog their opponents in fifth, with a home win priced at 13/8.

However, punters may find little between the two teams, with Ladbrokes also valuing an away victory for Karl Robinson’s side at the same odds.

Last season this fixture ended in a stalemate, and a share of the spoils looks to be the best match bet again this time at 23/10.

In fact, three of the last five clashes between these outfits in Lancashire have ended 1-1, and you can back history to repeat itself at 11/2.

Both clubs have won five from 11 in the league so far this season, and are separated by just two points in League One.

The visitors have the slight advantage in domestic form, remaining unbeaten in the division during their last six encounters whilst Preston have won three and lost three in the same spell.

Goals have not been too hard to come by for either team, with Preston and MK Dons both involved in four-goal matches last time out.

And you can back over 3.5 goals to be scored at 9/4 when the two clubs lock horns this weekend.

Interestingly, MK Dons’ last two outings have seen them come from behind to secure a point, and against Preston they are a tempting 4/1 to fight back to win or draw.

In the player markets, two names stand out as prime candidates to find the back of the net.

For Preston, journeyman Akpo Sodje has found his feet in the North West, and has seven strikes in all competitions this season, including three in the league and is priced at 6/1 to open the scoring.

Dean Bowditch is the leading scorer for MK Dons, also with three in the league but four in total, and the away side’s number nine is 7/4 to strike at any time.

Bowditch is also the only man from either squad to fire a hat-trick so far this season, and could be worth a punt at 40/1 to do so again.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
