Everton worth backing even against common bet-upsetters Swansea

Swansea’s away performances would have upset punters on more than one occasion this season, with their Capital One Cup semi final triumph at Chelsea being the ultimate case in point.

This may deter punters from backing against the Swans again ahead of their trip to Everton, but there is enough to suggest the hosts will get the job done at 8/13, even if this price does appear to be slightly on the short side.

Everton must class Swansea among their most favoured opposition, remaining unbeaten throughout the last 16 meetings between the pair and winning all three in the Premier League without even conceding a goal.

Meanwhile, it is hard to know exactly where Swansea’s heads will be for this one after their fantastic victory at Stamford Bridge.

Reaching the Capital One Cup final has to be their chief priority now and they have two league games before their return leg with Chelsea, where Michael Laudrup will surely want to ensure his best players are fresh.

This could mean that a slightly weakened team is picked in between.

It is 7/4 that Everton make it four straight successes over Swansea with clean sheets attached, but this may be best avoided as Everton have both scored and conceded in their last 15 Premier League fixtures.

Therefore, both teams to score may be a popular betting proposition at 8/11 and is hard to tip against, even if this would have resulted in money lost in seven of Swansea’s 10 away games so far this season.

One of the big clashes on show at Goodison Park will be the battle of midfielders-cum-strikers as Swansea revelation Michu plays against Marouane Fellaini.

Fellaini is considered the more likely to strike first at 11/2 and was on target in the 3-0 Everton win in the reverse fixture in Wales earlier in the campaign.

Michu is 7/1 in this market, but to break the deadlock he will have to bring to end Swansea’s struggles for goals in this fixture.
