Championship accumulator: Promotion contenders to prove punters’ pals

Published:

Away from the FA Cup, a number of domestic league fixtures provide betting opportunities this weekend, and we have selected four Championship results for a payout exceeding 18/1.

Our first choice is Cardiff, who are taken to condemn dismal travellers Bristol City to an 11th away defeat this term in a 1pm kick-off in Wales.

The Bluebirds are 8/15 to record what would be a 13th home win in 15 attempts, and should be backed to extend their league leadership with three more points.

That gap at the top could be trimmed once again later in the day though, with second-place Hull welcoming Charlton to the KC Stadium.

Steve Bruce’s side ended a run of indifferent form with a midweek home success over Derby, in what was their ninth triumph of the season on their own patch.

And the 4/5 hosts, who have the fourth meanest home defence in the division, can overcome an Addicks side with little to play for.

Selhurst Park is the next port of call for our accumulator meanwhile, as two sides in the hunt for a play-off place meet in London.

Crystal Palace are our 11/10 tip, opposing a Middlesbrough side that have lost just one less away game than bottom club Bristol City this term.

By contrast, Palace boast a superlative home record that has seen them lose only once at their own ground this season.

They can keep a 15-game unbeaten streak at Selhurst Park alive with victory over a side that has lost five of their last six Championship games.

To round off our accumulator, we opt for the 12/5 draw between two underachieving sides in Ipswich and Blackpool.

In a fixture that finished level last season, we expect the Tractor Boys to record a Portman Road stalemate for the sixth time during this campaign.

Their visitors have drawn almost a third of all their league games this season too, and there appears very little to choose between this bottom-half pair.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
