Benteke and Defoe interest in Fantasy Football betting

Published:

Christian Benteke has certainly already done more than his bit to keep Aston Villa in the Premier League this season, but the Belgian striker may be primed for another big day out at home to Sunderland.

This could prove great news for Fantasy Football players with Benteke a lucrative 25/1 to be the top points scorer after gameweek 35.

No player has a been a bigger single contributor to his team’s goal tally than Benteke this season, as he has scored 15 of Villa’s 36 Premier League goals and provided assists for another four.

It is likely that Benteke will have to score more than one against Sunderland to have a chance of accruing the most points and the fact that all three occasions that he has achieved this feat for Villa have been on their travels is a slight concern.

But he has found the net at Villa Park against Reading, QPR, Newcastle and Norwich this season, so has a strong track record of being on target against his club’s fellow relegation contenders.

After being the top points scorer of gameweek 34 following his hat-trick against Aston Villa, Robin van Persie will be a popular selection to pull off a double at 25/1.

He has five goals in his last three games and has already netted against Arsenal earlier in the season.

Heading the betting is Chelsea’s Juan Mata at 14/1, who should be relatively refreshed having only been brought on for the final 20 minutes of their Europa League win over Basel.

Punters willing to take more of a risk could opt for Jermain Defoe at 33/1 who is far from a certain starter for Tottenham at Wigan, but has netted 10 goals in his last 12 appearances against the opposition.
