Lampard and Terry to stay but Luiz may go as Mourinho heads back

It seems to be more a case of when and not if Jose Mourinho returns to Chelsea – at least if the latest rumours are to be believed.

According to the Sun, the Real Madrid manager is definitely heading back to Stamford Bridge prior to the start of next season and has already made his transfer plans known to the Chelsea hierarchy.

They reckon that the Portuguese is determined to give Frank Lampard an extension on his deal which runs out this summer (admittedly that’s not the most difficult decision he is likely to make) and he also plans to keep John Terry who has been used sparingly under Rafa Benitez and has just a year left on his current contract.

However, while he is keen to keep those players at the Bridge he has allegedly ruled out moves for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao and Real Madrid midfield string-puller Xabi Alonso.

While the Sun is talking about all the incomings at west London, the Daily Mail reckons that one of Chelsea’s best performers of recent weeks could be heading for the exit door.

The tabloid believes that former Greatest Team Ever, Barcelona, are preparing a summer bid for David Luiz.

Apparently the Catalan giants are prepared to spend around £35 million on the defender/midfielder as they look to rebuild after their Champions League mauling at the hands of Bayern Munich.

However, the Blues – who bagged Luiz for around £25 million from Benfica in January 2011 – are thought to want £40 million.

In reality though, Chelsea have no need to sell the player who has done such a good job in recent weeks and, if Mourinho wants to keep the Brazilian, then there is every reason to believe he’ll still be at Stamford Bridge next season.
