Arsenal’s Giroud to top the fantasy football scoring charts

Published:

Olivier Giroud is in rare form for Arsenal, netting in each of their Premier League matches so far, and with Mesut Ozil installed behind him the good times will continue to roll for the striker.

In gameweek five Stoke visit the Emirates, where they have lost every game they have played in the Premier League, and Giroud is well set to be the highest points scorer in fantasy football.

The Frenchman has the highest overall tally in the game so far, racking up his best total of 11 points in Arsenal’s last game at Sunderland.

Another Gunners’ player who could be worth considering is Theo Walcott who scored against Marseille midweek.

Elsewhere Daniel Sturridge could well continue his prolific run at Anfield against Southampton. Like Giroud, Sturridge has scored in each game so far, but unlike the Arsenal player he has just lost his creative muse, as Philippe Coutinho has succumbed to injury.

However, having collected 29 points in four games so far, Sturridge is still a good bet even without Coutinho.

Christian Benteke is another striker with four goals already, and could do well against a Norwich side he scored two against in all competitions last season.

The Belgian is also a bonus-point magnet, having secured eight of them in four games despite Villa’s poor form, and topped the overall charts in gameweek one.

An interesting choice is Hatem Ben Arfa, who has two goals and an assist in his past two appearances.

After wins over Fulham and Aston Villa, Newcastle welcome Hull to St James’ Park and the French winger could be in the points again.

Ben Arfa has mustered more shots from open play than any other midfielder this season, and carries much of the Magpies’ goal threat due to the poor form of their strikers.

On paper, the Manchester derby rules out a lot of players from the running, but Wayne Rooney has four goals in his past three trips to the Etihad in all competitions, and is a good bet to be involved in any goals United score at their neighbours.
