Palace chase second Arsenal striker for fourth signing of day

Published:

Crystal Palace could bring as many as six new faces in on deadline day and this has caused their price to plummet from 6/1 to 6/4 to be the busiest club on the final day of the transfer window.

Barry Bannan, Jack Hunt and Adrian Mariappa look set to be the first three arrivals given that they have already undergone medicals at Selhurst Park.

Mariappa is set to sign for £3m from Reading, with Bannan joining for somewhere close to half of this sum from Aston Villa. Hunt arrives from Huddersfield.

However, the big headline-stealer could be Nicklas Bendtner, who has been seen at Crystal Palace to discuss a possible move.

Reaching an agreement over wages is likely to be the trickiest aspect of the deal, with Palace looking to follow up on the capture of another underachieving Arsenal striker in Marouane Chamakh.

Some other names linked with Ian Holloway’s men are a host of midfielders including Adlene Guedioura from Nottingham Forest, Liam Bridcutt from Brighton and Chelsea’s Nathaniel Chalobah.

If Palace can sign more than a handful of new faces, this must boost their chances of surviving relegation this season, with their price currently 6/4 to stay up.
