Lancashire sides to taste victory in Championship matches

Published:

Great Lancashire rivals Blackburn, Blackpool and Burnley have had differing fortunes in the opening weeks of the Championship season, but with all three sides now in the top half of the league ladder, we’ve put together an exciting treble that pays over £110 for a £10 stake!

Blackpool v Bolton – Blackpool to win @ 10/11

Blackpool began the season on the crest of a wave, befitting of their seaside location, but saw their form stutter somewhat over the last four weeks. However, a match against a Bolton side who have gained just four points from their nine league matches and are winless in the league should see Paul Ince’s Tangerine’s return to winning ways. Last season saw the teams play out two 2-2 draws, but the honour of the most recent victory goes to Blackpool, who ran out winners in a high scoring 4-3 win back in 2011.

Given the two teams differing fortunes, it would be hard to look past the 10/11 on offer for all three points to stay by the Fylde Coast.

Blackburn v Watford – Blackburn to win @ 6/4

Gary Bowyer’s Blackburn outfit had to endure a difficult start to the season, but with Jordan Rhodes back in typical goal poachers mood, the East Lancashire side have seen their league position improve to the 11th place they currently occupy.

With the ever present threat of Rhodes, coupled with the resurgence in form of former Newcastle hit man Leon Best, Rovers have struck 14 goals in their six most recent fixtures. And with Bowyer’s side having won their two most recent home fixtures against Watford, coupled with the Hornet’s suffering defeat to Blackpool on their most recent trip to Lancashire, the 6/4 on offer for another win in front of the Ewood Park faithful could be fruitful.

Doncaster v Burnley  – Burnley to win @ 11/8

Sean Dyche’s Burnley side have been one of the surprises of the Championship season so far, with the Clarets looking like early promotion candidates having won six of their opening nine league fixtures, including three of their four away trips this season.

Conversely, Doncaster have failed to win in four of their five home Championship matches so far this season, with just a solitary league victory against Burnley’s rivals Blackburn Rovers to take positives from. With the team’s contrasting form, it is difficult to look past anything other than an away win at 11/8.
