Sheff Wed front up Yorkshire-infused Championship treble

Published:

In preparation for a return to Championship action we’ve handpicked three likely looking winners in games that all feature at least one team from the fair county of Yorkshire.

Sheffield Wednesday to beat Yeovil @ 5/6

Before punters start heading for the exits already, this writer is fully aware Sheffield Wednesday have yet to win any of their opening five Championship games.

However, three straight draws have set the platform for a first three-point haul of the season for the hosts, as they entertain a Yeovil side struggling to adjust to life in the second tier.

The Glovers have not registered a single goal in four straight Championship defeats and it’s looking like a long season could be in store for Gary Johnson’s men.

Huddersfield to beat Doncaster @ evens

Another of the promoted sides feature here in this Yorkshire derby, but just like their West Country counterparts, Doncaster have failed to significantly improve on the squad they came up with.

Four points from their opening four games is by no means a disaster for Donny, but the Terriers have been impressive at home in their two games.

Mark Robins’ side represent the only team to have taken points off title favourites QPR so far, while also thrashing sixth-place Bournemouth 5-1 at the John Smith’s Stadium in their last home outing.

Nottingham Forest to beat Barnsley @ 8/13

Promotion hopefuls Forest made a blistering start to their Championship season, winning their first three games before Watford slowed them down on their travels by sharing the spoils and latterly Wigan defeated them on the road.

Nevertheless, a return to the City Ground against perennial strugglers Barnsley, who’ve lost three of their opening five league matches, should get things back on track for Billy Davies’ side.

Forest are yet to concede a goal from two home wins so far and handed out a 3-0 pasting to Bolton on the last occassion.

This trebles pays out at odds of around 5/1 if successful
