Expect the action in the second half as Man City host Everton
Published:Manchester City and Everton were on differing sides of five-goal thrillers in the last round of Premier League matches, and both games saw more goals in the second half.
That extended a run of four Manchester City matches where more have been scored after the break, while all of Everton’s away games with goals have followed the pattern.
That trend is worth backing to continue at 21/20 this time around, as Roberto Martinez takes his unbeaten Everton side to the Etihad.
Manchester City’s 3-2 loss at Aston Villa was the sixth of their eight games this campaign to have more second-half goals.
Martinez has settled into life at Everton in grand fashion, with his team sitting fourth in the table after the win over Newcastle.
Romelu Lukaku’s arrival has added the killer instinct up front that had been lacking in their first few games of the season, with the Belgian scoring three in his first two league games for the Toffees.
Away from home they have drawn with Norwich and Cardiff, beaten West Ham and lost to Fulham in the Capital One Cup.
Other than the goalless draw at Cardiff, those matches have seen more goals in the second half.
Despite Manchester United’s recent thrashing at the Etihad, Martinez would be well served in taking a tip from his predecessor David Moyes about how to play against Manchester City.
Under Moyes, Everton won nine of their past 12 matches against City, including four of their past six trips to the Etihad.
Martinez would gladly accept the chance just to maintain Everton’s unbeaten record this time around, as City have been in superb form at home so far this campaign, winning all four matches and scoring 14 goals.
