Table-topping Fleetwood top Johnstone’s Paint Trophy treble

Published:

The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy regional quarter-finals take pride of place on Sky Sports 2 in midweek and we’ve predicted an epic League Two over League One triumph when Fleetwood Town entertain Carlisle in front of the cameras, as part of a tempting JPT treble at 9/1.

Newport to beat Portsmouth @ 9/5

Pompey may be ‘playing up’ pretty confidently in League Two after a run of five games unbeaten, but a trip to south Wales could easily represent their second cup exit in quick succession.

Newport have won five out of their seven home league games at Rodney Parade, losing just once and this competition is likely to feature higher on Justin Edinburgh’s wish list than Guy Whittingham’s, as Portsmouth attempt to claw their way up League Two.

Swindon to beat Wycombe @ 4/7

This result should be the most clear cut of the trio given Swindon currently reside in seventh in League One and have won four out of their last five at home.

FA Cup embarrassment up at non-league Macclesfield last time out means the Robins should be fully focused to set the record straight against a League Two Wanderers outfit, who are winless in three – which includes defeat to 22nd place Bury and a draw with 23rd place Accrington in the fourth tier.

Fleetwood to beat Carlisle @ 10/11

The Hollywood tie of the quarter-finals is reserved for the Northern section as the leaders of League Two, Fleetwood Town, bring their fine form to the JPT.

The Trawlermen have hit a purple patch, recording three straight wins in all competitions, whilst scoring eight times and conceding only once.

Carlisle make the perfect fodder for a TV ‘upset’ too, as they scrabble around for only their second win in eight games and their first in five, which included a 0-0 draw with non-league Boreham Wood in the FA Cup on their last outing.
