Brentford, Orient and MK Dons all bankers in League One

Published:

In football few things are certain and while the spotlight in League One this Saturday will undoubtedly rest on the key top-of-the-table battle between Preston and Wolves, we’ve plumped for a trio of fixtures that look a little easier to pick a winner from.

Backing the treble of Brentford, MK Dons and Leyton Orient may appear paint by numbers to some, but the only real figures that count are the odds of just over 3/1 offered and a return of £42.78 for anyone betting £10 on these picks with Ladbrokes.

Brentford to beat Port Vale @ 8/15

Since his permanent appointment in the role back in early December, Mark Warburton has done a fine job of filling the void left by departing manager Uwe Rosler, with the Bees flying high in League One and still on a run in the division that has seen them go 13 games unbeaten.

Victory over Port Vale would be their sixth consecutive win in the English third-tier and given the visitor’s patchy current form, which has seen Micky Adams’ men win just one of their last three competitive games, they look well placed to do just that.

Leyton Orient to beat Carlisle @ 8/13

The O’s bounced back from their 4-0 FA Cup humbling against Championship side Yeovil Town with a solid 2-0 victory away at Shrewsbury Town in midweek and there’s every reason to suggest Russell Slade’s team can claim the three points again here.

Orient are unbeaten in three League One fixtures heading into this contest and with Carlisle on a miserable run that has seen them lose four of their last five competitive games, it could be another afternoon to remember at Matchroom Stadium.

MK Dons to beat Shrewsbury @ 8/11

With memories of their FA Cup heroics against holders Wigan still fresh in the mind, the Dons will be hoping that their impressive display in the 3-3 draw with the Latics can transfer into their League One form.

Karl Robinson’s team remain difficult to beat, with the one defeat from their last seven competitive games coming against Brentford and they will be confident of maintaining their promotion push with a win over Shrewsbury, who have lost three of their last four.
