Price Boost: Suarez and Lukaku boosted to open scoring

Published:

The Merseyside derby is one of the most fiercely-contested football matches in the world and with Liverpool and Everton locking horns tonight Ladbrokes is getting in on the action with a double price boost offer.

Reds ace Luis Suarez has been enhanced from 5/2 to 3/1 to open the scoring, while Toffees forward Romelu Lukaku can be backed to net first at 8/1 – up from 6/1.

And with 22 goals from the last seven meetings between the two sides including a six-goal thriller in the most recent tie, goals are almost guaranteed as red and blue collide at Anfield.

Belgian powerhouse Lukaku is on loan from Chelsea and while the deal is supposed to give the 20-year-old a taste of first team football this is exactly the sort of game where his employers will expect him to make a difference.

Chelsea are currently priced as 2/1 second favourites to dethrone Manchester United this term and if Lukaku can fire Everton to glory on derby day he will boost Everton’s chances of a Champions League berth while damaging the Reds hopes of overtaking the west Londoners.

Lukaku has been in good form again this season, scoring nine goals in 20 Premier League games and opening the scoring for the Toffees on three occasions.

A loan signing he may be, but with the rest of the Everton forwards in uninspiring form the youngster is very much the main man at Goodison Park and represents Everton’s best chance of picking up a first win over their arch rivals since October 2010.

However, it will take more than a solid display from Lukaku to end the Reds’ seven-game unbeaten run over the visitors with Uruguayan hit man Suarez setting the benchmark for goalscorers this term.

The Liverpool man’s antics have sparked many a debate during his time in front of the Kop but his ability is unquestionable with the 27-year-old netting 22 times in 17 Premier League appearances this term.

With five of those goals opening the scoring in Liverpool’s games this season it could pay to take the shorter-priced man to notch early again here.
