Wolves may have to settle for draw and boost our League One treble

A full coupon of League 1 action is in store this weekend and below are previews of three games with the treble paying out at just over 19/1.

Wolves v StevenageDraw @ 5/2

Wolves find themselves back in the automatic promotion places thanks to four consecutive wins and sit only two points off pacesetters Brentford.

The Midlands outfit have responded well after a difficult period from November where they only recorded two victories in ten games. However, despite being back in the form that have made them favourites to win the division for some time they will do well to take a maximum haul away to an increasingly sturdy Stevenage side.

Many will consider this one of the bankers of the weekend considering Graham Westley’s men prop up the table but they have shown a spirit in recent weeks that was missing from earlier performances and at home they have become a dangerous proposition.

Last week’s 3-1 win over Gillingham was their second home league victory from their last three and although they were outclassed 4-0 at Broadhall Way by Everton in the FA Cup they were not overawed.

A win could see them out of the relegation places for the first time in a while, however, that may be too much of and ask and so the advice is to back the stalemate.

Sheffield Utd to beat Shrewsbury @ 8/11

The FA Cup has been a welcome distraction to Blades fans this season but their last-gasp victory over Fulham to reach the fifth round should help them in the league going forward as well.

Nigel Clough’s men are without a win in four in League 1 and are one point adrift of safety, however, such would have been the euphoria around the camp after leaving Craven Cottage they should have too much momentum against a woefully out of form Shrewsbury.

Sitting only one point ahead of their opponents, the visitors have lost six of their last eight and the moods of the two teams are probably in direct contrast.

Back Clough to ensure feet are kept on the ground and secure a vital three points that are there for the taking.

Port Vale v Swindon  – Draw @ 12/5

Swindon have made a habit of drawing on the road of late and that trend looks set to continue against a similarly inconsistent Port Vale.

In three of their last five games away from the County Ground the game has finished all-square and with their opponents struggling to secure maximum points another sharing of the spoils looks likely.

With consecutive defeats the Vale will be desperate not to make it an unwanted hat-trick and the two points that separate the teams in the league could remain the same by the end of play.
