New brutish Belgium striker a better fit at Spurs than Liverpool

Liverpool and Tottenham have been tussling over the same targets for the last few years and while the Reds are in pole position to land Divock Origi, who impressed in five Belgian appearance in Brazil, Spurs are looking to muscle in.
If the 19-year-old Lille striker had his wits about him though, it’d be White Hart Lane he’d hanker for as his next home stadium rather than Anfield, as Spurs would be a better fit for his playing style.
As a 6ft 1″ athletically powerful forward, Origi would provide considerable competition to Emmanuel Adebayor in the Lilywhites’ striking stocks.
Much like compatriots Romelu Lukaku and Christian Benteke, Origi would flourish in the hustle and bustle of the Premier League where using a mobile monster upfront has been the norm since Didier Drogba’s arrival.
Spurs favour that type of system and struggled when the Togolese man was out of the side with Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe unable to replicate his stature, so need reinforcements.
Liverpool, who are 15/2 to win the Premier League this season, preferred a two-striker system with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge last season.
While that may change should the Uruguyan leave, Brendan Rodgers’ preferred passing style doesn’t suit Origi’s height while Rickie Lambert could cut into the Lille man’s playing time.
Should Spurs wish to crash the pool party that is Liverpool’s transfer business this summer they’ll have to move fast, reports suggest a £10m fee between the Merseyside club and Lille has been agreed.
