League One accumulator: Doncaster and Bristol City backed

Published:

The Premier League may be hogging the limelight this Saturday but after 37 goals across 12 games last weekend the place to be for goals and excitement was League One.

Averaging out at over three goals a game, the English third-tier served up some sensational results to put all the Championship and League Two action in the shade and while the top-flight has returned, we’ve got a 25/1 fourfold that could keep you glued to the action elsewhere.

Whether it’s Ashton Gate, Keepmoat, London Road or the Bescot Stadium, this is one accumulator you will want to keep a close eye on.

Bristol City to beat Colchester @ 4/7

The Robins may have lost out to Oxford in the League Cup but they looked impressive against fellow promotion hopefuls Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last weekend, winning 2-1 in a scoreline that flattered the Blades.

Colchester started with a 2-2 draw at home to Oldham but suffered an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Charlton in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday and could struggle against a City side unbeaten in four against the Us.

Doncaster to beat Port Vale @ 5/6

Relegated from the Championship in heartbreaking circumstances, Donny sent a clear message of intent with a 3-0 win away at fellow demoted side Yeovil Town. Paul Dickov’s men followed that result up with a 1-0 win away at York in the Cup and look confident heading into this home encounter.

Port Vale could only muster a draw at home to Walsall and though 6-2 winners over Hartlepool in the cup, they remain shaky on the road with a recent 2-1 friendly loss to lowly Tiverton extending their poor record, which saw them lose nine and draw four of their final 13 away games in the division.

Peterborough to beat MK Dons @ 23/20

A 1-0 win away at last season’s League Two runners-up Rochdale was a solid start for Darren Ferguson’s side and despite MK Dons also winning 4-2 at Gillingham, Karl Robinson’s team were fortunate to benefit from a defensive collapse by the Gills.

The Posh will provide a much sterner test and should be backed to get the better of a Dons side that has lost to Peterborough in each of their previous three league meetings.

Bradford to beat Walsall @ 9/4

Walsall may have started the season positively with a 1-1 draw away at Port Vale and a 2-1 victory at Southend, but it’s their form at the Bescot Stadium in recent times that makes Bradford the team to back. The Saddlers won one of their last 11 at home in League One last term and could struggle here.

Bradford put three past Coventry at home last weekend and followed up their 3-2 win with a 1-0 victory away at Morecambe in the League Cup. The Bantams won on their last visit to Walsall to extend their unbeaten run at the ground to three games.
