Hull to lighten West Ham’s midfield load after Cleverley miss

Published:

Steve Bruce’s Hull are definitely looking for a central midfielder to sign on transfer deadline day.

Having tried and failed to land Manchester United’s Tom Cleverley, who looks primed to choose Aston Villa over the Humberside club, a move for West Ham’s Mohamed Diame is reportedly back on.

Sam Allardyce’s moves so far in the transfer window, bringing in Alex Song and Cheikhou Kouyate, have overloaded West Ham’s midfield and the club are looking to offload Diame to make space.

A move to Hull would be in stark contrast to what was expected for the Senegalese during the last transfer window, where Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for the 27-year-old in January.

With his only start coming in the Capital One Cup so far this season it’s clear playing time will be at a premium at Upton Park, while a move to Hull would see him join forces with Tom Huddleston and Jake Livermore in a midfield-three.

Ironically, Hull face West Ham in their next Premier League outing and are 11/10 to win.
