Spurs enquire about Man City defender after Liverpool loss

| 01.09.2014

A rosy start to Tottenham’s Premier League campaign was brought to an abrupt end at the weekend, after their clash with Liverpool ended in a sorry 3-0 loss.

It seems the defeat has prompted Mauricio Pochettino to look at his defence once more, with out-of-favour Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic the target.

Nastasic looks set to leave the Etihad Stadium on transfer deadline day, with Vincent Kompany, Martin Demichelis and new Citizen Eliaquim Mangala all ahead of him in the pecking order for Manuel Pellegrini.

The north London club’s purchase of Federico Fazio from Sevilla hasn’t stopped their new boss looking to further bolster his backline, although the arrival of Nastasic could see one of Younes Kaboul or Vlad Chiriches leave the club to make room.

Spurs are 16/5 to claim a top-four spot this season following their defeat to the Reds and face a trip to Sunderland next in the top flight.
