Wilshere hands Wenger boost ahead of crunch Chelsea clash

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been handed a major boost with the news Jack Wilshere will be fit to face Chelsea in next weekend’s crunch Premier League clash.

The England international could even be ready to face Galatasaray in the Champions League on Wednesday despite injuring his ankle in the North London derby.

The Gunners were staring down the barrel of a huge injury crisis after Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta both limped out of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

The Wales international is expected to be out for around a month after sustaining a hamstring injury but the news is better surrounding club captain Arteta, who should return to action after the international break.

Things got worse for Wenger when Wilshere picked up an ankle knock but the injury does not appear as bad as first feared with the 23-year-old expected to takes his place in the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are 7/10 for a third victory at home against Arsenal in as many seasons, while Wenger’s men are 4/1 for a vital three points in the race for the Premier League title.

The Blues, who are 4/7 to lift the trophy in May, are currently six points ahead of their London rivals and a win over Arsenal would shorten odds of a first title since 2010 even more.

First though, Arsenal face a must-win European clash on Wednesday night against Turkish giants Galatasaray at the Emirates.

The north London club are 8/15 with Ladbrokes for victory, while Cesare Prandelli’s side are 5/1 for the win with the draw available at 10/3.

And the news of a possible Wilshere return will boost the Gunners chances of three points no end when they step out against Galatasaray in the capital.
