Chelsea and Spurs highlight mid-week fixture list full of tempting prices

You can tell Christmas is coming. Not for all the adverts that flood our television pictures in November, or for the festive food items that adorn our supermarket’s shelves, but because the Premier League fixtures are starting to pile up.

For the first time this season, the top flight has its first mid-week set of games to host, with all 20 teams set to play up to four days after their last appearance.

With a host of matches scheduled over the Christmas and New Year period, this is the perfect dress rehearsal for manager’s to try out their squad rotation theories ahead of English football’s famed seasonal clutter.

Six of the 10 games will be played on Tuesday 2 December, with Liverpool favourites to pick up a second straight win at Leicester at 9/10 and Manchester United 2/5 to topple Stoke at Old Trafford.

Swansea, Newcastle and West Ham are all other top-half sides that will take to the pitch on Tuesday, with a treble on the trio to beat QPR, Burnley and West Brom respectively paying out just short of a rather tempting 12/1.

On Wednesday, there’s little doubt over the headline encounter, as Chelsea put their unbeaten season on the line against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.

With the north Londoners a lofty 8/1 for victory, Ladbrokes clearly don’t think there is much danger of the Lilywhites ripping the “Invincibles in waiting” tag from around the Blues’ squad’s neck anytime soon.

Arsenal hosting Southampton is another tasty treat to tuck into and the 10/3 on the Saints is sure to catch a few eyes considering their start to the season and Arsenal’s continued lack of harmony.

Defending champions Man City travel to recent bogey club Sunderland in the last of the mid-week action, with Gus Poyet’s club 5/1 to cause another upset to the Citizens’ season.
