Premier League Darts: Lewis set to topple Taylor in Bournemouth

Published:

Darts fans packed into Leeds’ First Direct Arena bore witness to a thrilling opening weekend of PDC Premier League competition and heading into week two, a few stars are tipped to carry their electrifying form down to Bournemouth.

Adrian Lewis to beat Phil Taylor @ 6/4

This clash of multiple world champions is a repeat of last season’s Bournemouth fixture and much as it was then, Lewis is tipped to leave Taylor without any points heading into week three for the second year running.

Jackpot prevailed as a comfortable 7-3 winner over The Power on the south coast in 2014 and judging by the way Lewis has kicked-off proceedings he’s a great price to repeat the feat.

While Taylor lost out 7-5 after a gritty contest against Gary Anderson in Leeds, Lewis recorded his highest ever televised average of 113.80 on his way to flattening reigning Premier League champion Raymond van Barneveld 7-1.

Michael van Gerwen to beat Stephen Bunting (-2.5) @ 8/11

2013 champ Might Mike lived up to his nickname when seeing off debutant Kim Huybrechts 7-3 in Leeds, in a business-as-usual fashion.

Making his bow in Leeds, Bunting performed admirably to stave off the nerves and tie 6-6 with James Wade in the final leg, however he then ran into MVG in a UK Open qualifier at the weekend.

The 6-1 pasting handed out by the Dutchman shines a light on this contest.

Dave Chisnall, highest check-out v Raymond van Barneveld @ 10/11

The two players’ contrasting fortunes on day one, where Chisnall caused the shock of the night with a 7-1 victory over Peter Wright and Barney bottomed out againt Lewis, adds zing to the 11/8 on a win for the Englishman.

Barney’s pathetic high finish of 32 in Leeds makes this market one to explore though, with Chizzy knocking off a 138 en-route to his impressive triumph.
