Tottenham wallop Arsenal 7-4….in Giroud-less Mix n Match XI

Published:

Spurs can make a big step towards joining the top four for the first time since the second game of the season if they send bitter rivals Arsenal packing at White Hart Lane this weekend.

The fourth-placed Gunners have a two-point advantage over the Lilywhites heading into the match and both teams are in fine form having lost just one game each in their last six outings.

It’s understandably tight in the match-betting market, with the visitors shading favouritism to win at 6/5 and Spurs a 21/10 chance.

But, as we jumble the two squads up and relay them as a combined XI it could be Spurs’ longer odds that are the ones to take as they boast seven representatives to Arsenal’s four:

With Arsenal’s number one ousted from his own team, there was no trouble selecting Hugo Lloris to mind the net.

Two sets of defences that always have an error in them made picking the back-four tougher, but the Gunners’ woeful injury record in that department counted against them as Kyle Walker, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose are joined by Laurent Koscielny.

A pair of tough-tackling home-grown talents occupy the midfield, as the energy of Ryan Mason is partnered with Francis Coquelin, who has been a revelation since being called in by Arsene Wenger.

Their presence allows for a full-blooded attacking quartet infront of them, all of whom are in fantastic form this season.

Santi Cazorla and Christian Eriksen will be given license to roam inside for creativity purposes from the wings, while Alexis Sanchez playing behind Harry Kane would perhaps be the most fluid strike partnership in the league if it were ever realised.
