Man Utd and Man City on Pogba collision course this summer

Published:

Ahead of a very hotly anticipated Manchester derby more fuel has been added to the fire with the news the two clubs are set for war over transfers as well as Premier League places.

The main subject of their desires is Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba who has flourished in Turin since leaving Old Trafford three years ago on a free transfer.

Having played an integral role in helping the Italian giants secure successive Serie A titles, Pogba is well on course to land a third Scudetto this term, after scooping FIFA’s Best Young Player award at the 2014 World Cup.

Still only 22, it’s been widely reported that Pogba is ready for a new challenge and Manchester City are hoping to capitalise on Manchester United’s decision to let him leave in the summer of 2012.

The Daily Star reveal that City would be prepared to offer a sensational double swap involving Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko, to try and land the talented midfielder, with some cash possibly thrown into the deal.

This swoop would be in direct competition with United, who are thought to be lining up a proposal of £45m plus Robin van Persie.

While these offers may sound excessive, the player’s agent has already claimed it would take ‘a world record fee’ to secure Pogba’s services.

Given the list of accolades the former United youth product has compiled since leaving English shores, it’s certain to take something spectacular to satisfy his current employers.

Both United and City, who are 12/5 to share the points at Old Trafford, are looking to revamp their midfields and Pogba is about the best young centre midfielder around right now.

Expect this saga to rumble on, especially as Chelsea and Barcelona are also monitoring the situation.
