Has Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling disappeared up his own backside?

Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling has “disappeared up his own backside” and needs to come back down to earth before potentially ruining his career.
That is according to former Liverpool favourite John Aldridge who has laid the blame at the feet of the 20-year-old’s agent.
Sterling has been the subject of what looks set to be the summer’s biggest transfer saga after reportedly turning down a £100,000-per-week new deal at Anfield.
The attacking midfielder has shown glimpses of greatness in his fledgling career to date but it is worth reminding ourselves that as yet he has won nothing.
The former QPR youngster has played 124 games for Liverpool and scored just 23 goals.
Granted his game is about more than just finding the net but since he hit the headlines with his contract demands Sterling has almost slowed to a stop.
A return of just two goals from his last 17 games for club and country has Aldridge fearing for the player’s future and the league and FA Cup winner has some choice words for those advising the Reds rebel.
“The way [his agent] has gone about handling the situation with Raheem is pathetic,” he told the Mirror.
“Look after the lad. This is a baby. He had a real good spell from November to February and the lad has since just disappeared up his own backside.
“He’s only 20 years of age and he has lost everything going for him at this moment in time. And it is purely down to his agent.”
Aldridge added that he “feels sorry” for Sterling and hopes his agent sees the light and realises that at this stage of his career, where he is still “serving his apprenticeship”, Liverpool is the best place for him to be.
Aldridge could yet get his wish, with Sterling priced at 13/8 to remain at Anfield, while a move to Real Madrid is on at 5/2.
Manchester City (7/2), Arsenal (3/1) and Chelsea (6/1) are also rumoured to be interested but if Sterling is to take Aldridge’s advice he’ll be staying put … for now!
