West Ham and Aston Villa bosses creeping up in the Sack Race

Dick Advocaat remains the clear favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave with Ladbrokes, but may just be looking over his shoulders at some fellow bosses creeping up in the betting.

West Ham’s Slaven Bilic, who was 11/1 second favourite with the bookmaker this time last week, has shrunk to 6/1 now following a weekend loss to newly promoted Bournemouth.

An opening-day win over Arsenal remains the only joy for Hammers fans to celebrate recently, with the east London club failing to win any of the five games either side of that upset in any competition.

The loss to the Cherries will have been the most galling for Bilic though, as his men fought back from two goals down, only to relinquish parity again as the second half progressed.

With Liverpool and Manchester City making up two of the claret-and-blue club’s next three Premier League fixtures, it could be that Bilic is the new market leader before September is out.

Up in the Midlands, Sherwood has quickly been brought back down to earth after masterminding his own opening-day win, incidentally against Eddie Howe’s newcomers.

Consecutive losses to Manchester United and Crystal Palace have seen the former Tottenham tactician cut from 14/1 in the Sack Race to just 10/1 now.

Although that may not seem like a huge shrink, the price slash is enough to see the Villans supremo move to third-favourite for the chop.

Sherwood may see a reprieve on the horizon though, with his next Premier League assignment coming in the form of Advocaat’s meek Black Cats.
