West Brom v Everton: Toffees’ stingy defence aids under backers

Published:

Following a weekend in which Sky Sports were all too happy to tell us how many goals were scored in the Premier League – yet more proof they reckon, that the division is the best in the world – West Brom and Everton are set to pour water all over the excitement.

The Baggies host Roberto Martinez’s side as the division’s lowest scorers. Tony Pulis has, despite signing Salomon Rondon and Rickie Lambert to add to Saido Berahino, watched his side manage just four goals in six top-flight outings.

Such sorry productions isn’t likely to improve against the Toffees either, who are yet to be breached in three trips away from Goodison Park.

Unsurprisingly given those stats, Ladbrokes offer a skinny price of 8/13 that the encounter contains fewer than 2.5 strikes, but that is as big a banker for the match as you’re likely to get.

History helps the confidence. All of the last four between the pair have seen a bet of this nature land, and only three of their last 12 battles in all competitions have failed to please unders disciples.

Both of West Brom’s last two matches at the Hawthorns have ended 0-0, against Port Vale in the Capital One Cup and Southampton in the Premier League, as have Everton’s last two road trips in the league, so 15/2 about a stalemate looks worthwhile.

Romelu Lukaku will lead Everton’s goal-shy line in the Midlands, with the Belgian desperate to get back to scoring ways.

The former Chelsea man has four strikes to his name this term, but hasn’t hit the back of the net since recording a brace against Barnsley in the Capital One Cup in August.

It’s timely then, that Ladbrokes have taken the chance to boost the price about Lukaku scoring in a Toffees triumph from 3/1 to 4s.

In addition to that special offer, the bookmakers’ Sharp Shooter promotion also applies as this is a domestic televised match*.
