Rangers boss right to back keeper for England call up

Following Rangers’ 11th successive league win, Mark Warburton said his ‘keeper Wes Foderingham could go on to get an England call up.
It might seem outlandish to suggest a player in the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship should get picked for the Three Lions, but looking at recent performances it seems a fair shout.
Foderingham has only conceded six times in the league this season, keeping five clean sheets to help the Gers maintain their perfect record.
He particularly impressed in his side’s last match as they beat St Mirren 1-0 away from home.
The former Swindon Town goalie produced a number of assured and high quality stops to earn the three points, including a strong save early on to keep the scores level.
Similarly, putting in top notch performances is not a new phenomenon for Foderingham, with the player being integral to the Robins’ League Two title win and being part of the League One team of the year the following season.
Joe Hart is guaranteed a place in England’s Euro 2016 squad, with Jack Butland likely to deputise.
Fraser Forster’s injury will make it difficult for him to make the trip to France, leaving a third spot wide open.
Ben Foster and Tom Heaton would be favourites to claim that place, but the confidence Foderingham gains from continuing to perform in the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship could see him worthy of being in contention.
The tournament may come too early for the Rangers number one, but promotion and strong performances in the top tier will mean he can’t be ignored for long.
He will take encouragement from the fact that Forster earned his England call up while playing in Scotland, and will want to follow suit.
The 24-year-old certainly has time on his side, and is already familiar with the international setup having played at youth level.
He has played for the Three Lions at under 16, under 17 and under 19 level, representing his nation 12 times.
