Eddie Howe to swoop for left back for a fourth time

Published:

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is on course to sign the same player for a fourth time, with reports linking the Cherries boss with a bid for Sheffield Wednesday defender Rhoys Wiggins.

The Owls are said to have accepted a bid of just £200,000 for the 28-year-old to reunite the Welshman with Howe, having played under the manager on loan twice before and on a permanent basis in the 2010-11 season.

How the Dean Court faithful will react to the news remains to be seen with Wiggins departing the club in controversial terms in 2011.

Shortly after Howe left to take charge at Burnley, Wiggins put in a transfer request in the hope of joining Watford to realise his dream of playing at a higher level.

When he eventually left for Charlton, who had finished lower than the Cherries, the fans questioned the former Wales U21 star’s motives.

Howe is clearly a fan of Wiggins’ talents, however, and should he get the best out of his former charge and keep the Cherries in the Premier League all is likely to be forgiven.
